This is for those who are looking for work in the IT field in the Knoxville TN area, # 1 there are jobs out there for those of you who are qualified, I get jobs on my desk on the daily basis for employment opportunities in this area (Helpdesk, .Net developers, DBA, SQL DBA, Systems Administrators, Network Administrators, Network Engineers, PC Tech, Support Desk) and those are the jobs that are advertised #2 I get job openings from our Business Partners (that are not advertised) because they dont want every Joe Schmo clouding up there desk with useless resumes, they dont have enough time in the day to sort through unqualified resumes of people who think they fit the bill, if you need a JOB then meet the expectations and requirements of the JOB
How can I say this? Well I'll tell you.
The company i work for is responsible for ALL the IT training in the E TN Knoxville area, we have worked with over 7,000 companies to provide training to their employees, therefore we know what they look for in individuals they plan to hire. Not all, but most HR Managers, IT Managers and Hiring Managers are not that technical so the only way they can justifying putting you on the pay role is by what you know, how can they do that? They cant take your word on it, they have been burned to many times by hiring an incompetent "IT Professional" The Universal benchmark that is being used, as far as a filtering process, is an outside source(MS, Cisco, CompTIA) vouching for you as to how experienced you really are and that you can live up to your resume.
So in conclusion if you want to work in the IT industry buck up and make an Investment and update you skill sets, learn the best practices, meet the demands of the industry and get that 3rd party validation companies are looking for
